Yet another award for Lyn!!!
Continuing to demonstrate her love for creative framing and Mountcutting, Lyn has won the 2011 Fine Art Trade Guild Competition for Mount Cutting and Design. The competition was entitled “Collectibles” and each entrant produced a framed piece combining several objects. Lyn has collected brooches for many years and decided that rather than having them hidden in a box, she would use the competition to display her collection. Since a lot of the brooches were very old, Lyn chose to design an Art Deco themed presentation and whilst the photograph below shows the detailed Mountcutting, it does not show the fact that the box is lined with mirror, both on the base and into the rebate of the very deep outer frame. If you would like to view the piece in person, it is currently on display at Life The Gallery in Farnham www.lifethegallery.com along with her bronze trophy. It is worth mentioning that all of the mounts were cut by hand rather than on a computerised mount cutter – that in itself is a feat of skill and accuracy, surprising quite a few framers in the competition!
