Mr Manish Gourisaria of Lion (India) with Lyn and Students
from Calcutta course
|
One of
my long term dreams has been to travel to India and this year that dream
became reality. I was appointed by Lion (India) to set up and run workshops
in Calcutta and Mumbai primarily for their staff but also for their
customers. Picture Framing in India has always in the past been a "pavement
craft" but things are changing. Since Lion's inception, the market for
professional framing has grown considerably and training is now considered
to be a most important part of their future.

Students from the Mumbai course

With upward
of 15 students at each week long course, we had a lot to cover and the
only slight problem was the language barrier. However, we overcame that
and everyone seemed to enjoy the course. Students came from as far afield
as Nepal, Bangalore and Goa.

The
whole experience was fantastic. The people were lovely, the food
was very interesting and the heat was something to be reckoned with.
On a day trip to Agra to see the Taj Mahal at the end of my trip,
the thermometer hit 48 degrees. |
