About the Guild

Louise Hay, Chief Executive

The Guild celebrated its Centenary in 2010 and I look forward to taking the Guild into its next 100 years.

Art lovers, our pages are packed with information for you: what’s new, where to buy, what’s on, award winning art, trends and the pros and cons of art as an investment. Make informed choices. Care for your art and preserve it for generations to come; we tell you how. Set off your art and collectibles, memorabilia and photos to best advantage with good quality framing, by the experts.

How do you know which framers are professionally qualified? Look for the Guild Commended Framer (GCF) logo! The Fine Art Trade Guild offers this vocational qualification to framers, more and more of whom are now taking the specialist qualifications available in Advanced Textile Framing, Conservation and Mount Design and Function.

Guild members agree to abide by the Code of Ethics and keep up to date with the latest standards, trends and materials through their regular reading of Art Business Today, which the Guild publishes for the trade. Standards and qualifications development, dispute mediation, merchant services cost savings and specialist information are just a fraction of what the Guild provides. Our pages cover many aspects of the art and framing industry but only Guild Members get privileged access to all the information, advice and services; after all, they are the Fine Art Trade Guild.

Broaden your horizons and knowledge. What is special about a Limited Edition print? Why should somethings be framed to Conservation Level? How do I recognise different graphic techniques? What is a Giclée print? What is the difference between a print and a reproduction?
Enhance your walls at home and at work, with confidence. Enjoy!
